Rather dull and quiet for the POW Cup, but took lots of photos. Thanks to Steve for the ride in Scooby!

Land's End at Last!
Roland and I made it to Land's End last Saturday, after a week walking from Helford Passage. Monday and Tuesday were very wet and the serpentine rock around The Lizard very slippery. The weather for the last couple of days was excellent and the scenery spectacular. Thanks Roland for your company throughout!

Coast Path Week 3
Looks like I have omitted a report on week 3 of our SWCP walk. Better late than never... The route was from Polperro to Helford Passage, and Roland and I did it from 24 to 28 October last year. Day one was horribly wet but a highlight of the week was that night's B&B, the Greenbank in Fowey. As I said to Ken Rigby, our host: "If we had turned up in such a wet state at almost any of the other B&Bs we
used during the week we'd still have been damp the following day! Greenbank
definitely gets our vote as the best B&B of the week - best view (see pics),
best breakfast, best company and best value!"
We hope to do the last leg, to Lands End, in May. There is some uncertainty about the date as I am waiting for second cataract op (had the first one 2 years ago).

Volvo RS Feva GP 8/9 Oct
I will be teaming up with Steve Best in RIB Scooby for this one. We should get some sunshine and breeze, both essential ingredients for excellent photos. There may be a slideshow in the Clubhouse on Saturday evening - watch this space for details.

It has been pointed out to me that I uploaded the RS100/300 images without the file numbers! That's now been fixed.

RS100 and 300 Nationals at Exe SC 8-11 Sep 16
I'm planning to be on the water on Thursday and Friday, with Saturday in reserve if necessary. Forecast for the first 2 days looks pretty good at the moment. Proceeds from the event will go towards my fund raising for the Childrens' Hospice South West

Coast Path Week 2
Week 2 now done, from Salcombe to Polperro. Original plan was to finish at Fowey this week, but that would have been 7 pretty strenuous miles too far, and as Polperro has transport links to the outside world we decided to be sensible. Bird of the week was probably the skylark, though we did see more stonechats. This photo of a Looe seagull was taken with the 24mm lens so you can tell how very unafraid they are!

Squib Nationals 26 Jun to 1 Jul
I am due to come to Weymouth for one day of the Squib Nationals. I'll pick the day once there's a reasonable weather forecast for the week. In the meantime, if you would like me to keep an eye out for your boat, please email me your sail number and tell me what sort of shots you prefer, eg close-up, full height etc.

Coast Path Week 1
First week of the Coast Path walk now done! Budleigh Salterton to Salcombe over 5 days. Many thanks to Roland for his company. Very pleasant walk, strenuous in places. Bird of the week has to be the Stonechat and flower either Campion or the Early Purple Orchid. Plenty of flower pics in the photogallery but you try taking a convincing photo of a stonechat with a 24 mm lens! Here's one I took earlier...

Coast Path Walk
Plans have firmed up, commitment has occurred and the start is one week away! Still struggling with a number of things, like how to keep the rucksack below 15 Kg. We could have paid for one of those namby-pamby "we take your luggage on to your evening's destination" services, but the clue is in the words I used to describe it. Let's see how I feel after a day lugging (15+?) kilos up and down hills...

2016 Challenge
A belated Happy New Year to all my readers (all 2 of you??). This year's challenge is to walk the SW Coast Path from home (Budleigh Salterton) to Land's End. Probably not all in one go :-) Current plan is to walk with an old friend of mine. More detail to follow when (a) plans firm up and (b) commitment occurs!

Comet Trio Nationals Exe SC 22 Aug 15
Plenty of sunshine today for Day 2 of the Trio nationals but sadly very little breeze and hardly any racing. There's a selection of pictures on the Photo Galleries page. Thanks to Steve for the ride in RIB "Scooby". Just like the old days...

Sailing Again!
Went for a sail on the Exe in Nellie (Dorado 12) this morning. Launched just after HW on quite a big tide which is (+) convenient as the water is right at the bottom of the slipway (-) slightly tricky as the breeze was blowing up the slipway (NW) so had to hoist sails when afloat standing in quite deep and, by then, fast flowing water. But got off OK and had a pleasant sail in around 8-10 knots of breeze.

Osprey Nationals Day 1
I had a good day at Highcliffe SC yesterday (23 July), Day 1 of the Osprey Nationals. Many thanks to Ian and Dave for driving me around the course in the launch Edna May. I have posted a big selection of pictures which can be seen via the photo galleries page. When I have worked out how to do it I will post a note explaining how you may order copies of the files.
